The Republic of Texas stock certificate reads: No. 2119 Republic of Texas Certificate of Stock in the ten per cent consolidated fund. Created by Act of Feb. 5th 1840 Be it known that there is due from the Republic of Texas Edward Hill Five Hundred Dollars Payable to order, with interest at the rate of ten per cent per annum, payable semi-annually on the 15th days of June and Decr. at the Treasury Department, in Gold or Silver, on presentation of this Certificate and delivery of the several interest warrants on the margin hereof, the first payment of interest to be made on the 15th days of Decr 1840. The principal redeemable at the pleasure of the Government after the 30th day of June 1845. This certificate to be transferable by simple endorsement Treasury Department.
